You can comfortably reach the Wispile mountain lodge (1907 m) by gondola lift, where the winter hike starts. Always follow the ridge towards Gsteig/Lauenensee and enjoy the panoramic view. After about 40 minutes you will reach the giant Fondue Caquelon on the right side. It has space for up to eight people and cannot be reserved.

Return route: You can hike back the same way to the Wispile mountain station or extend your hike via the toboggan run towards Chrine-Gsteig.

Please observe the operating times of the mountain lifts.

Direct access by car to the giant Fondue Caquelon is not possible.

  • Approach

    The holiday region Gstaad is located in the southwest of Switzerland, right at the border to the French-speaking part of the country. The region is conveniently accessible by train or car from the Thun Lake region, the Geneva Lake area and the Gruyère region. Direct connections to the European high-speed train network and all international airports in Switzerland ensure a time-saving and pleasant arrival. The main means of transport in the Gstaad region are the "MOB" railway (Montreux-Oberland Bernois) and numerous postal bus lines.

  • Fondue backpack (must be ordered the day before at the dairies), good shoes, drinks for the way.

    The fondue backpack contains all the ingredients for the irresistible outdoor experience: choose between creamy classic or aromatic truffle fondue, crispy fondue bread, spices, a caquelon, a burner with fuel paste, plates and forks.
