448 Gstaad - Saanen (Saanen riverside path)

The path starts in the village of Gstaad and leads enjoyably through the car-free promenade before reaching the shore of the Saane. During the walk, you can enjoy the surrounding panorama of the Saanenland or observe the lively water play of the stream. Halfway between Saanen and Gstaad is the petting zoo and experience world of the Alpenruhe Foundation. The entire route is asphalted, but can also partly be walked on a gravel path. Bus stops make it possible to return anytime by PostBus.

It is possible to extend the route by starting in Grund and walking to Saanen. This extends the walk by about 1 hour. The PostBus stop for the starting point is the Chlösterli stop.

  • Approach

    The Gstaad holiday region is located in southwestern Switzerland, directly on the border to the French-speaking part of the country. The region is easily accessible by train or car from the Thun lake region, the Lake Geneva area, and the Gruyère region. Direct connections to the European high-speed train network and all international airports in Switzerland guarantee a time-saving and pleasant arrival. The main means of transport in the Gstaad holiday region are the "MOB" (Montreux-Oberland Bernois) train and numerous PostBus lines.
