Abländschen Detox Valley

In and around the small mountain village of Abländschen, active relaxation and peaceful hours of enjoyment await. The unspoilt nature, the magical view of the majestic Gastlosen mountain range, the varied hikes and culinary highlights make the area from Saanen through the Grischbach valley over the Mittelberg to Abländschen and Jaun so unique and attractive. Here are our highlights for the small mountain village at 1300 metres above sea level, on the border between the Bernese Oberland and the Fribourg Alps.

Postbus line Saanen - Jaun

From 4 May to 27 October 2024, an electric postbus will run from Saanen through the Grischbach valley, over the Mittelberg to Abländschen and Jaun. It's worth getting off at each of the 12 stops on the journey, which takes around an hour. Because the further you go, the more everything slows down.

New XXL fondue caquelon

Since summer 2024, a new XXL fondue caquelon has been located in the idyllic mountain village of Abländschen directly above the church. The new caquelon is easy to reach by bus and nothing stands in the way of a fondue in the fresh air. A nostalgic fondue backpack with all the necessary ingredients can be reserved at local dairies, selected local service providers and now also at the Zytbödeli restaurant in Abländschen.

Climbing the Gastlosen

People have been climbing on the Gastlosen Felsen for more than a hundred years! On the south side, there are beautiful plaisir routes, especially on compact, water-eroded slabs. Those who like climbing towers can make fantastic traverses on the Gastlosen rock spires. And the steeply sloping and partially overhanging north faces are known for the upper end of the difficulty scale.

Herrenschwändli fireplace

The "Swiss Family" fireplace is just a short walk from the "Abländschen Jaungrund" bus stop. Located directly by the Jaunbach stream, secluded in the tranquillity of nature, the fireplace is perfect for an outing with the whole family.

The church of Abländschen

A stop at the pretty little mountain church, which was built in 1612, is definitely worthwhile. The façade of the little church, which is surrounded by a small cemetery wall, is adorned with white-coloured ashlar work. The gabled roof is clad with wooden shingles and has a ridge turret with a pointed helmet, which carries two bells that are still rung by hand today.
