From Gstaad train station or the Gstaad promenade, you can reach the Fondue Caquelon at the cheese grotto in about 45 minutes. Follow the hiking trail Gstaad - Bissen – Turbach. It offers space for up to eight people and cannot be reserved. Another option is by public transport: from Gstaad with post bus line 182, Gstaad – Turbach to the stop "Bissenegg." The last 100 meters to the cheese grotto must be done on foot. By car, drive from Gstaad towards the Wasserngrat valley station. At the signpost "Cheese Grotto," turn left. Navigation device: Bissenstrasse 83, 3780 Gstaad.

  • Approach

    The holiday region Gstaad is located in the southwest of Switzerland, immediately on the border to the French-speaking part of the country. The region is easily accessible by train or car from the Thun lake region, the Geneva lake area and the Gruyère region. Direct connections to the European high-speed train network and all international airports of Switzerland guarantee a time-saving and pleasant arrival.   • Fondue backpack (must be ordered the day before at the dairies), good shoes, drinks for the way. The fondue backpack contains all the ingredients for the irresistible outdoor experience: optionally creamy classic or aromatic truffle fondue, crispy fondue bread, spices, a caquelon, reheater with fuel paste, plates, and forks.

  • After the fondue, take a look into the cheese grotto where more than 3,000 cheese wheels are stored. The visit must be registered a day before at the Molkerei Gstaad.
