From Gstaad train station or the Gstaad promenade, you can reach the Fondue Caquelon at the cheese grotto in about 45 minutes. Follow the hiking trail Gstaad - Bissen – Turbach. It has space for up to eight people and cannot be reserved.

Another option is public transport: from Gstaad take PostBus line 182, Gstaad – Turbach to the stop "Bissenegg." The last 100 m to the cheese grotto must be done on foot.


Access by bike or mountain bike is possible.
By car, drive from Gstaad towards the valley station Wasserngrat. Turn left at the signpost "Cheese Grotto." Navigation device: Bissenstrasse 83, 3780 Gstaad.

  • Approach

    The holiday region Gstaad is located in the southwest of Switzerland, directly on the border to the French-speaking part of the country. The region is easily accessible by train or car from the Thun Lake region, the Lake Geneva area, and the Gruyère region. Direct connections to the European high-speed rail network and all international airports in Switzerland guarantee a time-saving and pleasant arrival. The main means of transport in the Gstaad region are the "MOB" railway (Montreux-Oberland Bernois) and numerous PostBus lines.

  • Fondue backpack (must be ordered from the dairies the day before), good shoes, drinks for the trip.

    The fondue backpack contains all the ingredients for the irresistible outdoor experience: a choice of creamy classic or aromatic truffle fondue, crispy fondue bread, spices, a caquelon, a burner with fuel paste, plates, and forks.

  • After the fondue, take a look into the cheese grotto, where more than 3,000 cheese wheels are stored. The visit must be registered at the Molkerei Gstaad one day in advance.
