The starting point is the fashionable village of Gstaad with its distinctive chalet style and lush green alpine meadows. At the end of the gently rising valley to the south lies the idyllic mountain village of Lauenen, where local culture, old traditions, and gentle tourism harmoniously complement each other. To the south, the mighty three-thousanders Wildhorn and Oldenhorn mark the border to the cantons of Vaud and Valais. Colorful dry meadows line the roadside above the «Sunnigi Louwene».
Significantly more barren vegetation characterizes the Turbach Valley beyond the Trütlisberg Pass. The further you follow the Turbach stream down the valley, the greener the meadows become. Steep slopes on the left and right surround the secluded valley, which is only inhabited year-round in the lower part and is known for its over 75-year-old livestock cooperative.

  • Approach

    The holiday region Gstaad is located in the southwest of Switzerland, directly on the border with the French-speaking part of the country. The region is conveniently accessible by train or car from the Thun lake region, the Lake Geneva area, and the Gruyère region. Direct connections to the European high-speed train network and all international airports of Switzerland guarantee a time-saving and comfortable arrival. The main means of transport in the Gstaad region are the "MOB" train (Montreux-Oberland Bernois) and numerous post bus lines.

  • Technically demanding route, only for experienced e-mountain bikers.

    On the ascent to Trütlisberg via Lauenen, from point 1539 «Flueweid», there is a very steep section. From Wintermatte, a trail along the stream is possible.

    Some carrying sections on single trails occur when ascending Trütlisberg via Turbach Valley. Single trail sections partially in wetland, narrow metal grids. After longer rainy periods, this route is less recommended because the first part of the descent follows a narrow path through wet slopes.
