Mountain Romance

Strengthened by a hearty breakfast, we hike through alpine terrain to the Hängstesprung. There we enjoy the impressive panoramic view over the Saanenland towards the Vaud and Fribourg Alps. We descend to the Tungel pass via a well-secured steep section. Ahead of us, the high plateaus of the Stiere and Chüetungel Alps open up. Along steep switchbacks by the impressive Tungelschuss, we then reach the well-known Lake Lauenen. This idyllic lake is celebrated in the famous rock ballad of the Swiss German rock band Span. After a refreshment at the Restaurant Lauenensee, we continue past wooden sculptures downhill to Rohr. Here we can still see “Trischten” and then reach the cozy village of Lauenen.

Highlights

  • Gently descending over the high plateau of the Chüetungel
  • A refreshing swim in Lake Lauenen
  • Discovering the traditional custom of the Lischen division on Lake Lauenen
  • Walking through the moorland with Trischten in the Lauenen Rohr
