Pristine landscapes in three valleys
The route leads back towards Arnensee on a different hiking trail than the day before and shortly before the lake turns right and uphill. The highest point of today's crown stage is the Meielchäle Pass! The ascent leads to Alp Wittenberg, then through steep slopes with dry location vegetation up to the pass at 2,190 m above sea level. Those who keep their eyes open have the chance to observe ibexes here. The descent leads over the species-rich flower meadows of Alp Meiel, which are also liked by marmots. The steep section below the alp requires some caution when wet or icy. Then the long year-round inhabited Meielsgrund valley with its ancient mountain maple trees is reached. Now the last strength is needed to get via Wilde Bode to our stage destination in the Chalberhönital.
