Holiday region Gstaad is a Swisstainable Destination Level III – leading!

Following a two-year development process, the Gstaad holiday region was certified by TourCert in 2026 and thus – together with the other criteria met – fulfils the requirements for a «Swisstainable Destination Level III – leading», furthermore, Gstaad Saanenland Tourism has been classified as a «Swisstainable Level III – leading» organisation. These awards confirm that sustainability is embedded in the regional strategy, is put into practice and is systematically addressed – without claiming to have already ‘reached the goal’.

Gstaad is increasingly focusing on regional value creation, renewable energy and the careful management of the Alpine landscape. A growing number of businesses hold environmental and sustainability labels, and concrete initiatives such as ranger tours in the Lauenensee nature reserve, the Gstaad Card with free public transport, and educational and awareness-raising initiatives for hosts and young people demonstrate how steps towards a more sustainable holiday region are being implemented.

For Gstaad, sustainability remains a shared, long-term process – supported by businesses, guests and the local population – with the aim of preserving the environment and developing tourism responsibly.
