Hiking on Rinderberg
1. High-Altitude Hike Rinderberg–Horneggli: “Alpine Magic Trail”
This scenic ridge hike between Rinderberg (accessible via gondola from Zweisimmen) and Horneggli (chairlift from Schönried) is a true classic in the Saanenland region. Spanning approximately 7.7 km and taking around 2.5 hours to complete, it’s a manageable and rewarding route for families and casual hikers alike. Along the trail, the Alpine Magic Trail adds an extra layer of fun – an interactive experience path designed especially for children, featuring playful stations that turn the hike into an outdoor adventure. A unique highlight awaits just above the Rinderberg mid-station: a giant fondue pot installation, part of Fondueland Gstaad. 2. La Videmanette – Les Prax – Ruble – La Videmanette

The final stretch includes a steady 350-meter ascent back to the top station. Covering a variety of landscapes, this hike takes around 2.5 hours to complete and offers a rewarding mix of panoramic views, peaceful alpine trails, and physical challenge. 3. Wispile – Chrine – Gsteig
Starting at the Wispile mountain station (accessible by gondola from Gstaad), this easy hike follows a ridge trail with impressive panoramic views over the Saanenland. At Chrinetritt, the path descends steeply before continuing along the forest edge to the charming village of Gsteig. The route is 9.2 km long, takes about 2 hours and 45 minutes, and is perfect for leisure hikers. A special highlight on Wispile is the giant wooden fondue pot located directly along the trail – part of the unique Fondueland Gstaad. Here, you can enjoy an authentic fondue or raclette picnic surrounded by nature. Equipped with a fondue backpack, the hike turns into a scenic culinary experience. 4. Gstaad – Eggli – Saanen – Gstaad
This leisurely circular hike starts in Gstaad and leads over the Eggli to Saanen and back. The route covers 10.2 km and takes approximately 3 hours and 45 minutes to complete. Elevation gain can be reduced by taking the mountain lift, and the stylish Eggli Lounge offers a great spot for a break. 5. Glacier 3000 – Scex Rouge – Quille du Diable – Glacier 3000
The Glacier Walk is a moderately difficult hike on the glacier from Scex Rouge to Quille du Diable and back. The trail is 5.1 km long and takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes. The hike is accessible year-round and offers a unique experience in the world of glaciers.
