The route starts in Château-d'Oex with a breathtaking view of the surrounding villages and green meadows. You leave the plain heading towards alpine pastures and peaks to discover an area in the Vaud Alps where nature still rules. The route continues to Rossinière, where you can take a rest by the lake before heading along the Saane to Rougemont.

This route is very demanding with a gravel bike. Therefore, it is recommended only for experienced gravel bikers.

  • Approach

    The Gstaad holiday region is located in the southwest of Switzerland, directly on the border with the French-speaking part of the country. The region is easily accessible by train or car from the Thun lake region, the Lake Geneva area, and the Gruyère region. Direct connections to the European high-speed rail network and to all international airports in Switzerland guarantee a time-saving and comfortable arrival. The main means of transport in the Gstaad holiday region are the "MOB" train (Montreux-Oberland Bernois) and numerous post bus lines.

  • Caution: On the higher trails, there can be difficult passages when crossing alpine pastures. In bad weather conditions, the trail can be slippery (roots, bridges, gravel, alpine pastures).

  • Gravel bike, weather-appropriate clothing and equipment, puncture repair kit, and first aid kit.

  • The route can be started in Saanen. On the hiking trail along the Saane, you reach Rougemont via an easy trail.
