The 2079 m high Rinderberg rises between Gstaad and Zweisimmen. In winter it is popular with skiers, but in summer it transforms into a rewarding destination for hikers. A chairlift takes us from Schönried to the starting point of the Horneggli hike. The chairlift runs five minutes from the train station. Ideal for travelers arriving by train.

Once you reach Horneggli, take the well-marked path towards Hornberg - Rinderberg. A rolling alpine path leads from Hornberg to Parwengen. From there, the ascent to Rinderberg begins. The trail gently ascends on a good hiking path with an incredible view of the main Alpine ridge. The mountain trail mostly runs wider and not exposed along the ridge. A few spots are a bit narrower and require surefootedness.

From the Rinderberg summit at 2079m, there is only a short descent to the Rinderberg mountain restaurant at 2000 m. There, a special cow playground awaits the children and the sun terrace awaits tired hikers. The gondola then brings the hikers back to Zweisimmen. At the middle station, there is the option to switch to a scooter for the rest of the descent, permitted from 12 years old.

The hike can also be done from Rinderberg to Horneggli:
