From Saanen, the first section of this route leads via Unterbort into the Grischbach valley. Further on, the route climbs up to Mittelberg. From here the descent begins to the remote village of Abländschen, followed by a rather flat section to Jaun. In Jaun, just before the village center, turn left and take the gravel road to Im Fang. In Im Fang cross the main road and continue on the single trail to Pra Jean, where the Gros Mont Valley begins. The first part of the valley is rather flat before the climb zigzags up to the high plateau. The rigorous climb is rewarded with unspoiled nature and tranquillity. The route continues past the Vanil Noir, the highest mountain in the canton of Fribourg and via Rougemont back to Saanen.
