13.06.2025 , Friday

A life in the service of music Markus S. Bach has created an impressive life's work that has shaped the musical landscape of the Saanenland, Switzerland and far beyond.

Surrounded by a musical family, he was practically born into music. He joined the Harmonie Saanen brass band at a young age, laying the foundations for an extraordinary career. His dedication and talent led him to an impressive career in military music, culminating in the position of military captain. Markus S. Bach was the founder of the Saanenland-Obersimmental Music School, the Brass Band Berneroberland, the Swiss Solo and Quartet Competition and the National Youth Brass Band.

As co-founder of the Swiss and European Brass Band Associations, he has set milestones in the brass band world and established new standards. In his role as President of the European Brass Band Association, he made a significant contribution to the promotion and further development of this musical genre.

In addition to his national and international successes, Markus S. Bach was also intensively involved in his home region. As President of the Saanen Cultural Commission, he initiated the popular Saanen Easter and Old Year concerts, which continue to enrich the cultural diversity of the region to this day. He also led both the Brass Band Harmonie Saanen and the Brass Band Berneroberland for several years. Markus S. Bach's influence can still be felt today. His vision, his passion and his tireless work have had a lasting impact on the world of brass music. He was not only an inspiring musician and conductor, but also a mentor who paved the way for countless young talents.

With this tribute, we would like to express our deepest appreciation and gratitude to Markus S. Bach. His achievements will continue to inspire and accompany us for a long time to come. His life's work is a shining example of how music can connect generations and have a boundless impact.
