The tour starts in Saanen with its narrow streets and alleys, lined by old wooden houses and past the Mauritiuskirche from the 15th century. The first section leads through the narrow and remote Grischbachtal, up to the Mittelberg pass. This marks the direct connection to Abländschen, which is dominated by the impressive rocks of the "Gastlosen".

Agricultural alpine farms, called "Vorschess" in the Saanenland, as well as increasingly alpine vegetation characterize the second part of the tour. In good weather, the view extends from the Fribourg and Bernese Alps to the Valais Alps. At the Rellerli, a wonderful view opens up of the mountains and valleys of the Saanenland. The relatively long descent back to Saanen mainly follows gravel paths.
Alternatively, from Gspann you can also return to Saanen via Grüebli, Scharlotti, Schönried, Saali, Chouflisbach mostly on flowing singletrails.

The Gstaad holiday region is located in the southwest of Switzerland directly on the border to the French-speaking part of the country. The region is easily accessible by train or car from the Lake Thun region, the Lake Geneva region, and the Gruyère region. Direct connections to the European high-speed train network and all international airports in Switzerland guarantee a time-saving and pleasant arrival. The main means of transport in the Gstaad region are the "MOB" (Montreux-Oberland Bernois) train and numerous post bus lines.

On the "Arrival and Public Transport" page on gstaad.ch, you will find detailed travel information.

  • Saanen train station

  • Various parking spaces are available in Saanen.

  • Saanen - Mittelberg - Rellerli - Underbort - Saanen

  • Good to know: Grischbachstrasse is closed in winter. From "Chaltläger" to just before Rellerli there is a singletrail. After the Rellerli mountain station, the first part of the further singletrail descent is steep and technically demanding.

  • Mountain bike, weather-appropriate clothing and equipment, repair kit, and first aid kit.

  • From Gspan, take the singletrail variant (see above).
