Obersimmental Chalet Trail

A treat for lovers of Swiss chalets. This themed walk takes you through the entire Obersimmental valley, offering a wonderful insight into its outstanding carpentry skills. The trail can be divided into sections, depending on your stamina levels and the time of year. The Obersimmental Chalet Trail Guide with direcions is available from Gstaad Saanenland Tourismus.

Schönried – Saanenmöser History Trail

Eleven information boards along this themed route summarise the local history of the area from the 13th to the 19th century. This popular panoramic trail is often bathed in winter sunlight. To round off the hike, we would recommend visiting the Museum der Landschaft in Saanen.

Zweisimmen Castles Trail

This trail will take you back into the Middle Ages, combining education and exercise in an imposing natural landscape and explaining the importance of the Simmental valley when it belonged to the Burgundian royalty. The first of 18 information boards is located directly adjacent to Zweisimmen railway station. This circular route is not possible in winter.

Yehudi Menuhin's Philosophers' Trail

As you follow this route along the River Saane, you will come across 12 boards carrying quotes from Lord Yehudi Menuhin (1916 - 1999). This great musician, violinist, philanthropist and honorary citizen of the municipality of Saanen, founded the now world-famous Menuhin Festival in 1957.
