Marcus G. Lindner is opening the new mountain restaurant Eggli
Gstaad is setting a further culinary accent: the star chef Marcus G. Lindner will become head gastronome of Bergbahnen Destination Gstaad AG and will be cooking in the new mountain restaurant Eggli starting in the upcoming winter season. Lindner is one of the leading restaurateurs in Switzerland. Thanks to his creations, Restaurant Mesa in Zurich became number 1 in the city. He has also attracted attention on several occasions in Gstaad: In Alpina Gstaad he has earned one Michelin star, as well as 18 Gault Millau points, and managed the restaurants Chesery and Park Hotel.
New mountain restaurant Eggli
The mountain railway has already been bringing guests onto the Eggli in style and comfort since the last season – now guests can also look forward to the new mountain top restaurant. The restaurant is still under construction and will open in December 2020. Not only culinary specialties await guests, but also a wonderful sun terrace with a fantastic view onto the mountains.

Booking early pays off!
Buying tickets early is worth it for everyone! Thanks to the flexible prices, no one has to wait in line any longer and the tickets are often even cheaper. In comparison to the previous fixed price of CHF 65, a day ticket now costs up to 25% less and a maximum of 19% more in the future. The prices are based on, for example, when the ticket is booked and on what days it is valid.
In case the authorities state that all mountain railways in the Gstaad tariff association must be closed at some point during the winter season 2020/21, holders of one-day and multi-day tickets will receive a credit for the days of skiing that could not be taken during the closure. This credit can be redeemed online until the end of the winter season 2021/22 from Bergbahnen Destination Gstaad AG. Ticket holders can re-book online via www.gstaad.ch/skitickets.
Secure yourself a season pass (pre-sale starting in the beginning of october) and enjoy the perfectly groomed slopes and beautiful sun terraces of the destination Gstaad during the entire season. With a pass you won’t have any stress – if you feel like it, you get on your skis or snowboard, if the weather is bad, you make other plans. On sunny days, you don’t waste any time buying a ticket. Since last winter, guests have been coming to Gstaad’s local mountain, Eggli, very comfortably and in style. The new cable car captivates people with its unusual design. Now guests can look forward even more, as the new mountain top restaurant will open in December. The hosts would like that their guests are able to relax and enjoy the culinary delights. The large terrace invites guests to marvel at the view of the surrounding mountains, especially on sunny days.
“The peak of pleasure” – as per the Wasserngrat website. That’s not promising too much. The terrace offers a nice view onto the surrounding mountains and the ski area is considered exclusive. It’s not large, but the slopes are challenging. Good skiers love the black run "Tiger Run". In the mountain restaurant guests are spoiled with sophisticated culinary delights, a culinary experience that guests will remember for a long time.
The view from the Pasatiempo snow bar is simply stunning. Those who are too fast will go down the same run again. The destination Gstaad has various panoramic trails that are guaranteed to be snow-covered. Cross-country skiing is popular. It’s good to know that our destination offers a variety of cross-country skiing trails. Between Sparenmoos and Col du Pillon, you can try out a new trail every day. You certainly won’t get bored during longer stays. Whether easy going or fast, cross-country skiing is good for the cardiovascular system and you can enjoy nature at the same time. The cross-country skiing hotspot for night owls is Schönried. There you will find lit trails that are lit up.
