Pop-up Festival 2020 by Gstaad Menuhin Festival

Despite the cancellation of its 2020 edition, the Gstaad Menuhin Festival & Academy wishes to bring a number of musical events to life during the summer in order to maintain its momentum. We are looking forward to proposing, during the month of August 2020, different projects to our audience in a variety of forms – digital as well as “in the flesh”:

“Kosmos Beethoven”
Four high-profile Beethoven recitals by Sir András Schiff (piano), Sol Gabetta (cello) & Alexander Melnikov (piano), Patricia Kopatchinskaja (violin) & Jonas Ahoonen (piano), as well as Daniel Behle (tenor) & Jan Schultsz (piano), will highlight a few of the gems of the composer's chamber repertoire under the vaults of the Saanen church. The concerts will be broadcast live on on 4, 9, 14 and 15 August, and some of them will also be broadcast on SRF radio and TV.

“Jeunes Etoiles”
We are also offering the opportunity to five up-and-coming new talents to perform the programme planned as part of the “Jeunes Etoiles” series despite the cancellation of the Festival, in the ideal setting of the Rougemont church. We invite you to give an online evaluation of the performances of these five budding stars, all of whom can be followed “live” on The artist who obtains the most votes will be offered an invitation to perform at the 2021 Festival.

“Musique et Nature”
Finally, at the end of August, we are introducing two musical hikes, which will allow enduring music lovers to enjoy chamber music in the midst of nature, performed by members of the Gstaad Festival Orchestra. The ensembles of the Gstaad Festival Orchestra (including the Gstaad Festival Brass) will also be present, offering pop-up concerts at various venues during the high summer season, according to a schedule to be drawn up at short notice.

We will keep you informed of the dates and programmes in detail via our newsletter, Facebook and on our website The current situation does not allow us to put tickets up for sale. Further information will be available at latest by end of July.
