Glorious victory for the Bayerischer Yacht Club - winning the 20th GYC Ski Yachting
Given that one of the club's objectives is to promote youth sailing, an identical event was organized also for the under 16, which was won by the Regattaclub Oberhofen with Nils Wälchli, and the siblings Louis and Julien Besch. On the occasion of the 20th jubilee for this year’s skiing competition as well all local ski clubs have been invited. In total 90 children took part in the ski races where not speed but regularity was key to success. The smallest time difference crowned the winners. The first three places went to Francesca Hodson, Ben Schönmann und Leonard Mathier.
The prize giving ceremony for the Interclub competition was held with over 100 guests in the beautiful clubhouse, during which Bryn Vaile English Olympic gold medallist in summer 1988 in Seoul in the star class, and Nils Theuninck, U23 Finn class European champion 2018 and GYC Racing team member were the Keynote speakers held a short and inspiring presentation around the Olympic ambitions of the GYC Racing Team. With enthusiastic words and videos they gave and insight into the Swiss Sailing Awards from the weekend before. Bryn and Nils shared their passion for (Olympic) sailing with the participants and motivated them to campaign for the sporties of the GYC, Switzerland and their own clubs.

The Gstaad Yacht Club was founded in 1998 by a group of sailor enthusiasts with the vision to "create a unique global yacht club away from the waters, instead of another local club by the waters". The GYC was regarded with astonishment in the beginning as a club in the mountains without water and meanwhile developed to a club with about 400 members from over 20 different countries. With sailing projects on all levels from juniors to professional sailors and the launch of the Centenary Trophy regatta in 2011 it has become a solid force on the Swiss sailing scene and for classic boats.
