Actively enjoy the spring in Gstaad

While is already quite warm and green at lower altitudes, spring is now also coming to the higher altitudes. Birds are chirping, everything is in bloom and fragrant... time to enjoy the fresh air! Our favourite activities in spring are a leisurely hike or ride on an e-bike.

Hiking in the Valley

A particularly picturesque hike goes from Saanenmöser over the valley floor to Schönried and onto through Gruben to Gstaad. Along the way we listen to the babbling brook, marvel at the delicate flowers peaking their heads out from between the old leaves and we practise bird watching. Especially after Schönried, when the trail goes down through Gruben to Gstaad, a wonderful view onto the snow-covered peaks of the surrounding mountains opens up. Underway, we unpack the picnic backpack and fortify ourselves with products from the region before we take on the last part of the hike. Mmmm, a piece of fresh bread with mountain cheese is simply delicious! After about two hours of leisurely hiking, we arrive in Gstaad and enjoy a refreshing drink on the Promenade.

Anyone who like to immerse themselves in the life of the counts, knights and castles, has the perfect opportunity to do so on the Castle Trail in Zweisimmen. The journey through time begins at the iron knight at the railway station in Zweisimmen and will take you through a landscape full of stories. Once you have reached the Mannenberg, the world of Middle Ages will appear in front of you with the refurbished ruins of the Mannenberg Castle. There are two fireplaces where you can barbecue and have lunch or a snack. During the walk along the Castle Trail, you will come across 14 boards that provide exciting information about the individual places and buildings of the period.

On Two Wheels

We are already quite excited about the biking season and have already gotten our bike from the cellar. We take a leisurely ride on the little-used road from Gstaad to Lauenen. From the charming chalet village we continue on and up to Lake Lauenen. Here its pleasantly cool and we can watch how the last patches of snow melt. Now in spring, the Tungelschuss, that carries the meltwater from the Gelten Glacier to Lake Lauenen, is especially impressive. Take one more deep breath and then get back onto the bike and enjoy the ride down back to Gstaad.
