From Schönried railway station go to the Rellerli valley station and take the gondola lift. From the mountain station the route takes you towards Hugeli (152/050-586/750), and then northwards to the "kalten Läger" (153/375-587/000) and up to the Schneitgrat. Follow the ridge in a north-easterly direction to the Bire (154/480-588-125). The route skirts around the Birehubel to the south and takes you to the saddle between Birehubel and Wannehörli (154/175-588/725). From Hundsrügg (156/175-589/775) the trail takes you down in big steps to the Schiltenegg (155/560-590/400) - Alternative: Instead of taking the ascent to the Hundsrügg, head downhill via Erbetlaub to Schiltenegg, where the routes eventually meet up. Travelling eastwards across open ground you will reach the Hinderer Hüsliberg (155/225-591/375) and the Berghaus Sparenmoos (155/585-592/340). There take the bus to the Zweisimmen railway station, from where you can catch the train back to Schönried.
