The holiday region of Gstaad is one of the top cross-country ski areas in Switzerland. The facilities in the various areas cover all levels of difficulty. Both traditional cross-country skiers and skating enthusiasts will find exactly what they are looking for here.

Schönried – Saanenmöser

Permanent cross-country ski trail an innovation for Switzerland

Our guests will be able to enjoy cross-country skiing in a whole new form from mid-December onwards in the area around Schönried. This is where Switzerland’s first permanent cross country ski cross trail will be opened if there is enough snow. This will be a training trail similar to a pumptrack for mountain bikers or a simple ski cross and will require a high degree of skill on the part of skiers. This new discipline is intended to complement the current comprehensive cross-country skiing offer in Schönried/Saanenmöser. With various elements such as waves/troughs, slalom, and small kickers in different degrees of difficulty, this is also very suitable for a fun family adventure.

The region has a further 9 chalet villages alongside Gstaad, located at an altitude of between 1,000 and 1,400 metres. Yet despite its style and class, Gstaad has remained genuinely Alpine and down-to-earth. It is proud of its tradition and lives and breathes it every day.

Over a thousand cultural and sporting events are available to visitors every year, including top events with an international reputation. In addition, visitors will find first-class hotels, outstanding shopping facilities along the traffic-free promenade and an airport in Saanen.
